Non-intervention is always preferable to unconstitutional, endless wars
(Boise, Idaho) — Today BringOurTroopsHome.US, an organization composed of veterans of the Global War on Terror and their civilian allies, praises outgoing Vice President Mike Pence for recognizing and celebrating the Trump administration’s decision to not engage in any new military conflicts during their term in office.
“I’m proud to report with just a few days left in our Administration, our Administration is the first in decades that did not get America into a new war. That’s Peace through Strength,” the Vice President tweeted Sunday evening.
While President George W. Bush launched the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and President Barack Obama began new wars in Libya and Syria, Donald Trump has instead worked to extradite U.S. troops from our current conflicts.
“Despite the apparent fracture between President Trump and Vice President Pence, we applaud both for their dedicated efforts to end America’s longest war and their commitment to avoid entangling the United States in any new wars,” says our Chairman, Dan McKnight, a former marine who served in Afghanistan. “Further, we challenge President-elect Biden and his foreign policy team to maintain the America First policy of non-intervention that has promoted peace in the Middle East through diplomatic efforts instead of invasion and occupation.”
Vice President Pence said he was “grateful” to the 10th Mountain Division, whom he thanked for conducting nearly fifty deployments since the start of the Global War on Terror two decades ago.
We also thank the 10th Mountain Division for their service and sacrifice, including that of our Chairman Dan McKnight who served with the division 2005-2007, along with all the other men and women who wear the uniform. And we know that President-elect Biden shares that gratitude.
That is why it is imperative that he make immediate plans for an orderly withdrawal from our wars in the Middle East, which are neither constitutional or benefit the American people’s safety.
